Woolly good.

This next stall I'd like to share with you is the lovely Faerylyn Designs!

Lyn from Faerylyn Design sells hand dyed, handspun yarns, much of which she prepares from raw fleece sourced from small local farmers and people who love their sheep.

How beautiful does that look?!
Lyn also designs and make Felt craft kits, using 100% wool felt which she hand dye and packs into various kits complete with easy to follow instructions, stitch diagram and even the needle is included.

What a great idea and super cute and crafty gift for a little - or big - person in your life. Another one for the present drawer, I think. I mean, look at this little felt echidna - I want to make one!

Lyn is exactly the kind of stallholder we love to support at Moriac Makers & Growers Market, someone who is passionate about their product, skilled at what she does, and using natural, local products to make something special and unique.

The latest.

It would seem that I am somewhat hopeless at blogging!

I can't seem to get the 'regular posting' part down pat. I started off well and, like many things I start, my commitment is waning.

Things are as busy as ever, with our first wedding on the farm last month adding a bit of extra excitement to the first part of 2013. It all went  swimmingly, despite the rainy weather!

To be honest, my focus has mostly been on the farm for the last few months, as it becomes more and more of a reality and less like  a pipe dream. Visit our website www.ravenscreekfarm.com.au if you're wondering what I'm talking about!

However, I do think there is a place for this here market blog, if only to showcase some of the lovely stalls we will be having at each market. We have some really delightful new ones for our next market in May (be kind, autumn weather!).

For example - Fudgalicious! The name says it all really. This is a Geelong-based business run by Megan, who makes some amazing fudges and fudge sauces with high quality ingredients. All of Megan's fudges are free of preservatives, gluten, nuts and eggs which is great.

[YUM]

You can order fudge directly from Fudgalicious via www.fudgalicious.com.au.

It's just over a month until the next market and we are really looking forward to this one. Keep your eyes peeled for posters around the traps in the coming weeks, and tell your friends to put it in their diaries!

Berry Christmas

What a crazy season this is. Everything has been so busy, and we are having the best time. The farm is going fabulous - berry picking has begun! We were totally unprepared, as we didn't expect any berries really this season - but there has been loads. We are feeling really good about it, and the feedback from everyone who has visited the farm has been so encouraging.

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago, the big 2-5. Had a lovely trip to Skenes Creek with the farmer, which was so nice and relaxing. Just what we needed.

The market has been falling together gradually - must admit my poor organisational skills have really been showing lately. It is getting there. The best news is we got the grant from Surf Coast Shire and the  bags were delivered yesterday! So exciting, I think they look fabulous. They will be available to buy for $4.50 each at the January market.Yay.

We have some fantastic new stallholders lined up, as well as the regulars. Here are some examples of what you can expect -
  • Food for Joy cordial - a favourite for many! Moriac made cordial in amazing flavours like Blood Orange and Mandarin
  • Caradean Soaps - natural handmade soaps from Birregurra
  • Elsewares - really unique textile-based jewellery, locally made
  • Rosie's Cupcakes - very popular, very delicious cupcakes beautifully made and decorated in Torquay!
Of course there is plenty more - handmade pasta, homewares, candles, plants, ice cream, kids clothes...

Its going to be a fantastic day. It's always nice to have something extra to look forward to after the flurry of Christmas and New Years.

So, I hope you have a wonderful day on Tuesday and that you have a chance to relax and reflect on all the blessings in your life.

PS: Still more sites available for the January market - email me at moriacmarket@gmail.com if you want to have a stall!

Hello again.

Well, it's been a ridiculously long time between posts, I know!

After  a long break from all things market I'm just about ready to get back into the swing of things, getting everything sorted before Christmas - only 55 sleeps to go!

So what have I been up to for the last month or so? Well about two weeks after the last market it was Hayden's birthday so we went to Tasmania for the week. We love Tassie, so beautiful.

Since then, it's been all about the farm. The berries have been growing brilliantly - it's looking like we'll actually have a decent harvest this year, which is exciting as it's really only our first year.

 And we built a shed!

That's my dad, he's been helping Hayden heaps with putting in the walls and ceiling. It's still very much a work in progress, but its all very exciting. This will be our farm shop in the not-too-distant future! The barn doors were built by Hayden. They're amazing right!

It has been a bit of a nursery here too; the sheep are lambing, the cows are calving, the goats have had three babies each and the kelpie had six puppies. So cute! We still some pups left for sale if you'd like one - call Hayden on 0430 546 496.

Other than that, the grass keeps growing, the pigs keep eating, and we keep loving life on the land.

I really wouldn't choose any other life. :)

So after the break I'm really looking forward to our next market! I'm keen to hear from any new interested stallholders for our next market on 6 January- please email moriacmarket@gmail.com.

Also waiting to hear from Surf Coast Shire to see if we were successful with our latest grant application... Fingers crossed.

So that's the update on the last little while. It's been great!

Happy day.

Our first anniversary market was a huge success! We had over 1000 people come along despite Modewarre being in the finals and Fathers Day commitments so we were thrilled!

Thanks once again to everyone for making the day so special. I'm sure I was walking around with a big grin on my face the whole time. It's such fun!

See you at the next one...6 January 2013. Email me if you want to be a part of it - moriacmarket@gmail.com.

Stunning!

Today's stallholder in the spotlight is Ernest and Joe.

Ernest and Joe is a new stall by two of our favourite stallholders from previous markets. They create handmade and designed silver jewellery - and personally I think their pieces look absolutely beautiful.

There isn't much more I can say...Just take a look at these pictures and start planning your purchases for a special lady in your life!

Barwon Lamb

Today I'm excited to showcase Barwon Lamb - the first fresh meat stall to come to our market!

Barwon Lamb is bred on the banks of the Barwon River between Inverleigh and Winchelsea, and they offer their fresh lamb direct to the customer.

I'm passionate about buying ethical meat and animal products, and supporting local producers so I'm really pleased to have Barwon Lamb coming to the market.

So don't miss your opportunity to buy some of the most local lamb you can get, direct from the producers. This what it's all about!
